u11 Development camp

8/11/2017

Some of our u11 nippers took part in the Sydney Branch Development camp over the weekend. Held at Deer Park, the annual camp involves u11s from across Sydney Branch club and is desigend to focus on life saving skills and surf education.

Here's a report from Grace Spinner, u11 girls:

"I had the privilege to represent Wanda at the u11 Sydney Branch development camp last weekend with Zoey, Keira, Dylan, Jack, Oliver, Eddie, Cameron and Robert. We all had the best time of our lives.

We learnt how to do a tube rescue and how to resuscitate someone (DRSABC). We also had a fun ride in the IRB around the Port Hacking River. We learnt about leadership and what a good patrol captain is responsible for. We were also split up in groups with people we didn't know. In these groups we got to do Absailing, low ropes, rock climbing, canoeing   and build your own raft. It was so much fun making new friends from the other clubs in the Branch.

I would like to say Thankyou to Sydney Branch, especially Doug Hawkins for leading us to be great lifesavers. Also Wanda for selecting us all to to go on this great experience. Last but not least Sonia Lester and Brett Porteous for coming along with us and joining in on the fun."
